Unit profile

Description

The target group of our research is adults with limitations in participation and everyday life due to illness, injury or age. Our research is based on theories and models derived mainly within occupational therapy and occupational science, gerontology, rehabilitation, health economics, evaluation and implementation research. The research group is linked to the Centre for Ageing and Supportive Environments, CASE, at Lund University, funded by the Research Council for Health, Work and Welfare (Forte - formerly FAS) during 2007-2016. The research is also funded by among others the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University and the Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning, Formas.

Research

Our research group conducts research focusing participation and everyday activities and how these can be made possible along the aging process. A specific research focus is how different interventions in the home can facilitate participation, independence and an active daily life, e.g by means of housing adaptions. Another focus is the relationship between participation, housing and the use of mobility devices. Both client as well as cohabitant perspectives are studied. The research has a clear focus on assessment and evaluation, including health economics, as well as implementation of research into practice. We are engaged in developing methods for the assessment and evaluation of housing environments as well as activity and participation. One example is the development of the instrument Usability in My Home.
