In our research, we use cohort- and register-based information in individuals to investigate primarily obesity and metabolic risk factors, in relation to risk and survival of disease, primarily cancer. The larger projects driven by our group are the new Obesity and Disease Development Sweden (ODDS) study and the Northern Europe-based Metabolic syndrome and Cancer project (Me-Can). ODDS includes millions of men and women in Sweden with anthropometric measures, linked to several national registers for follow-up of disease. Me-Can includes around 800,000 individuals and 80,000 incident cancer cases amongst whom we and Me-Can collaborators investigate relationships between metabolic factors and cancer risk.
