Unit profile

Rheumatology is a separate research group within the Department of Clinical Sciences, Malmö, from 2021. We conduct research within wide areas of rheumatology, with an emphasis on chronic arthritic disorders (rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis and psoriatic arthritis), giant cell ateritis, polymyalgia rheumatica and primary Sjögren’s syndrome. The research group is led by Carl Turesson, and includes a number of post doctoral researchers and Ph.D. students, some with a university position and some who work with research within other employments. Epidemiologic aspects, prognostic factors for clinical outcomes and early biomarkers for rheumatic diseases are investigated.
