Research at the Division of Sensory Biology explores the function, evolution and ecology of sensory systems, including vision, taste, olfaction, and magnetoreception. Our studies include how insects use pheromones for signalling, how animal eyes are designed and function and how sensory perception shapes behaviour. Our research is multidisciplinary and combines molecular biology, electrophysiology, theoretical modelling and behavioural studies to understand the underlying mechanisms of sensory processes across species.
