By combining groups in academia with large international and SME industry, spanning across disciplines and Technical Readiness Levels, it is possible to make real breakthroughs in integrating sensors in production, going all the way from the latest sensor materials to the production facility and end customer. These efforts will provide unprecedented control, such that every angle of Swedish sustainable production, economic-environmental-social, can be balanced in real-time competently, delicately, and precisely. The environmental impact of these efforts will be huge as both material and energy consumption in production is large on a global scale. Further, it will be crucial for the competitiveness of Sustainable Swedish industry from raw materials to final products to have such a centre performing research and application developments as well as educating the next generation of engineers.

The Sentio Competence Centre collects all necessary excellent competences to introduce beyond cuttingedge integrated sensor technology widely in production and products of Swedish industry. This allows a new level of adaptive control, use of AI integration in production, exact management of material and energy resources, introduction of new production methods, extending product lifetimes and a breakthrough increase in recycling capabilities. This is uniquely possible as we will combine excellence in knowledge on the production industry, nanomaterial fabrication, latest inoperando characterization with machine learning for adaptive control and statistical signal processing, software interfacing and, process, cost and sustainability analysis. We can use excellent national/international infrastructures such as MyFab Lund Nano Lab, MAX IV and ESS.
