I joined Lund University as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Economic History in September 2018. I hold a PhD in economics (focusing on economic history) from Stellenbosch University in South Africa.

My research interests are in public economics and development economics, past and present. My PhD focused on public revenues, expenditures and debt of South Africa (Cape Colony) in the 19th century.  I am currently interested and working on a project on the fiscal capacity of African countries and other developing regions between 1900 and 2000.
