Research

The research concerns solar neighbourhood planning, whose goal is to ensure solar access to buildings and outdoor spaces in future urban developments. Particular focus is given to courtyards in residential neighbourhoods in Sweden. Solar access is an intrinsic value in sustainable cities and net-zero neighbourhoods that is measured holistically, assuming potential for active solar systems (solar energy generation) and passive solar effects (daylighting, energy use, wellbeing and comfort).

The research study is related to IEA Task 63 and is funded by Energimyndigheten.
