Personal profile

Research

I am a Professor in Language Education at the Centre for Languages and Literature (SOL).

My research involves the psychology of language learning. I am interested in motivation, language learners’ communication behaviors, language teachers’ motivational practices and teacher identity development. I have a particular interest in multilingualism, and have investigated motivation in relation to English, Modern Languages, and Swedish as a Second Language.

I have been the principal investigator for two projects financed by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet).
