Personal profile

The goal of my research is to gain a better understanding of frontotemporal dementia and schizophrenia. Despite obvious differences between the conditions (the former is neurodegenerative, the latter neurodevelopmental), there are large similarities from a neuroanatomical standpoint.

Regarding frontotemporal dementia my current resaerch is focused on neurodevelopmental variation as risk factors, mechanisms of key symptoms (loss of empathy), and biomarkers. As for schizophrenia i study neurodevelopental machanisms (cortical myelizaiton) using ultra high field (7T) MRI, blood biomarkers of structural alterations, and i am staring a research projects on interneurons, based on an patient-derived iPSC model.

I teach medican interns and residents, medical students, biomedicine students, psychologists, and speech pathologist at the medical faculty on the subjects of dementia, frontotemporal dementia in particular, and schizophrenia
