Amitava defended his PhD thesis entitled The Fight on the Flights in May 2020 in the subject "Working Environment", specializing in Work physiology and kinesiology from the Faculty of Engineering (LTH), Lund University (LU).
Amitava Halder is fascinated to understand and explore the constraints of human performance, work capacities, limitations, mechanisms and functions through analyzing physiological, biomarkers, and kinesiological parameters in various challenging workload situations and environmental stressors including heat and cold, thus, to help human to make proper planning and tailoring work or exercises to optimize the performances, minimize the risks of injuries and ensure safety.
Amitava's research interests have bloomed in the direction of sports and medical research including exercise, environmental and integrative physiology, especially understanding biology more, like studying human performance in different tasks with varying intensities and environments. According to him "It is fascinating to study the changes and effects on the biomarkers, oxidative stress, inflammation, endothelial functions and damages; neuromuscular fatigue; muscle oxidative capacity; muscle fibre profiles; blood flow restrictions, hemodynamic and cardiovascular responses, a-vO2 diff., Hbmass; electrophysiologic effects EEG, EMG; cortical blood flow and their adaptations to exercise, lactate, homocysteine, cortisol in relation to training interventions, workloads, and their dosages, frequencies, with diet (low/no carb, ketosis, microbiome), intermittent fasting, and environmental effects, thus, to find improvements of performances in challenging situations.
It would be interesting to look at the effects of various of training interventions, workloads, dosages on the biomarkers in the heat and cold environments. It is prodigious to working on to preventing, or delaying the process of diseases like cardiovascular, autoimmune, neurological and ageing."
The overall aim is to enhance the performance, improve health, quality of life, prevent or delay diseases, and stay safe in both sports and working environment.
Amitava is also inspiring to follow The Healthy Life Principles or Habits: DISSMASS in the HALL™: © Amitava Halder
DISSMASS stands for: Diet, Intermittent-fasting, Sleep, Sunlight, Movement, while minimizing Alcohol, (Smoke), Stress, but Socialization).
Although it’s DISSMASS, ingrain it as the HALL (Habits of Active Lifestyle for Longevity).
