Research

My research focuses on financial and monetary history, business history and history of economic thought. I am currently involved in several research projects in these fields spanning from the relationship between macroeconomic cycles and financial cycles, crises, market integration, monetization, finance and development, exchange rates and economic catch-up. I am also working on what can be labeled alternative (or complementary) monetary and financial systems both theoretically and empirically. This involves such phenomenon as imaginary money, crypto currencies, local money and green money.
