Research

In summary, I study the great global cycles of carbon and water and their interplay with climate and society.

I study the functioning and states of ecosystems and how we are directly and indirectly affecting them. Currently my main interest is how land use have affected our ecosystems states, changes over time and stability during weather variations. My work has been mainly quantitative. During my work it has become clear that we need a larger set of tools to fully understand the mix of anthropogenic and natural systems. I'm currently working on the mapping and inventory of Swedish primary forests, for which we are starting to get a sizeable database.
