Artistic work

Anders Danman was born in 1958 in Helsingborg, Sweden. After studying piano at the Malmo Academy of Music, composition and counterpoint with prof. Jan Mægaard at the University of Copenhagen and musicology at the University of Lund, Anders Danman began to focus on harpsichord playing and performance practice.
After receiving his Performer´s Diploma and Master of Fine Arts in Music from the Gothenburg Academy where he studied with Leif Grave-Müller 1980-1984, he was awarded a scholarship by the Dutch government. This enabled him to continue his studies with prof. Ton Koopman at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam, where he pursued in depth studies of harpsichord playing, organ, historical performance practice and basso continuo. He also took the opportunity to visit and study important collections of historical keyboard instruments in The Hague, Brussels, Paris, Antwerp, Nuremberg and Berlin.
Since passing his final exams for harpsichord and basso continuo in 1987 with distinction, Anders Danman has performed on international concert platforms, both as a recitalist and as a much sought-after continuo player for various ensembles. In 1987 he also took up residence in Copenhagen, where he initiated the founding of Concerto Copenhagen (CoCo), Denmark´s first professional baroque orchestra with period instruments. He has given numerous recitals in Scandinavia and countries such as The Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, Mexico, Uruguay, Brazil and the USA.
He has made several recordings for the Swedish Radio Corporation, DR and foreign radio stations including Tokyo Broadcasting Service (TBS) and has appeared on numerous CDs for labels such as Kontrapunkt, Canzone, Musica Sveciæ, Chandos Records, dB Productions and King International, Japan.
In 1989 he won the first prize in the ensemble class at the Swedish Baroque Festival with the Il Concertino Quartet.
Anders Danman is also active as a composer. In 2010 King International in Japan released his most widely acclaimed album ALL YOU NEED - 2 fusion suites on Beatles Themes - creating much attention with its "ingeniuous fusion" of Beatles songs and the French clavecin style of the Régence and Louis XV.
As a composer Anders Danman has won further acclaim with a serious of sacred pieces such as the organ pieces Via Crucis (2011) and Sub Communione (2011-12) and the evocative Ave Maria gratia Plena (2013) for soprano and harp.
As a teacher he has been attached to all Danish Conservatories (Copenhagen, Odense, Esbjerg and Aalborg) and since 1990 he has tought harpsichord, basso continuo and chamber music as a senior lecturer at the Malmo Academy of Music.
Since 2000 he has also been employed as an organist at the Kirke Saaby sogn, Roskilde diocese, Denmark.
