Personal profile

Research

Now retired, I am engaged in popular science writing.

Outreach

For almost 15 years, I worked part time as a web developer, designing several web sites at Lund University. I have been, and still is, particularly engaged in my Swedish popular science site "Info om djur". Here, I publish my answers to questions from the public, especially from schools. I also write popular science articles for the site. During the year 2020 the site has received more than 1.000 daily visitors.

I have contributed to the Swedish National Encyclopedia with several articles in animal and human physiology as well as zoology.

I am now retired, but continue writing for my popular science site. I also find more time to read, especially books and articles within evolutionary science, history and linguistics.

Teaching

I was born in 1946 in Malmö, and from my early years I took an interest in animals and plants. I began medical studies in the 1960s, but soon realized that my true vocation was zoology. This resulted in a Master's degree in Biology, followed by a PhD in Animal Physiology.

A couple of years before my dissertation, I started giving lectures and tutoring biology students. This led to a deep involvement in teaching. I was engaged in teaching for more than 30 years, mainly in human physiology and animal physiology. I have received the Student Prize for Excellent Teaching and I am a faculty ETP.
