Anders Jeppsson is a medical doctor, graduated from Lund University, Sweden. He is a board certified specialist in General Practice/Family Medicine as well as Social Medicine in Sweden, and in Community Health in Ethiopia. He finished his PhD at Lund University on Health Sector Reforms in Africa. He also holds master degrees in Public Health and Social and Medical Anthropology.
Anders Jeppsson has worked as a Family Physician and Primary Health Care Director in rural areas in northern Sweden. During this period, he active developed health care for vulnerable people, such as persons with chronic diseases, persons at the end of life, asylum seekers and refugees. His work on the structuring of health care for refugees ans asylum seekers have been incorporated into the national recommendations by the Swedish Board for Social and Health Welfare.
During 15 years he served as advisor at central government level on health policies in various countries in Africa, primarily in Zambia, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Tanzania, and he has also worked in Jamaica. He has a long experience of work with multilateral and bilateral bodies, such as WHO, the World Bank, Unicef, UNFPA, Sida and the Royal Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Danida).
Anders Jeppsson is today primarily active in Public Health, and has a research interest focused on value issues in Medical Humanities.
Since 2012, he has been actively engaged in the organization of a series of open seminars in the History of Medicine and Medical Humanities at the University.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
