Research

My primary interest is visual perceptual processes and how the brain is able to process the overwhelming amount of information that constantly hits our eyes. My research project focuses on understanding the mechanism(s) underlying serial dependence for faces, i.e., how recently seen faces influence our perception of currently seen faces. To this end, I use both psychophysical experiments and electroencephalography (EEG), which allows me to investigate both the behavioral and neural aspects of serial dependence effects. The aim of my research is to contribute to a theoretical understanding of visual processes as well as to important knowledge in the study of serial dependence and its mechanisms in face recognition.
