Research

With Professor Inger Kristesson Hallström as my main supervisor, and Dr. Charlotte Castor as co-supervisor, my current research focuses on investigating by means of non-participant observations, and family interviews, how the child's best interests are put into consideration, when the child encouners healthcare. This research draws its background from the Patient Act that was implemented in Sweden in January 2015, and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, incorporated in its entirety as law in Sweden. Both the Patient Act and the UNCRC emphasize upholding the child's best interests in all areas concerning the child. The research will in other words give insights into how the child’s best interest can be part of a knowledge translation for development, evaluation, and implementation in care practice.

I have a background in Public health undertaken at Lund University in Malmö. My research focused on maternal health, where I was interested in investigating a mobile health (mHealth) technology called Mobile Midwife for Community Health (MoTeCH) implemented in 2010 in Ghana, West Africa. The field of mobile health is severely under researched in Ghana, yet it can be an alternative for improving health systems and the ways in which health services are delivered therefore I was interested in investigating by means of focus group discussions and individual indepth interviews, the role this project has played in the lives of pregnant and nursing mothers in Awutu Senya District, Ghana. Additionally, I undertook my undergraduate studies in Natural Sciences, where I majored in Molecular Biology and Genetics at the University of Zambia.
