Research

My main research interest lies in complex analysis and operator theory, particularly on spaces of analytic functions and certain operators acting on them. Recently, together with my collaborator Olivia Constantin from University of Vienna, I started to explore another area of research concerning applications of complex analysis methods to problems in fluid mechanics. In particular we obtained some qualitative results for the kinetic energy of two-dimensional irrotational water flows and modeled ocean gyres through nonlinear equations on a rotating sphere, showing where velocity extrema occur within key oceanic regions.
