Research

I am research coordinator for the strategic research area NanoLund, Lund University's centre for nanoscience and nanotechnology. I am responsible for coordinating NanoLund meetings and activities and offer support to scientists within NanoLund. You find more information about NanoLund on the webpage nano.lu.se.

My background is as a palaeoecologist, and my research focussed on using fossil pollen data to obtain quantitative reconstructions of past land cover and vegetation composition, by applying models of pollen dispersal and the relative pollen productivity of different plant species. Quantitative reconstructions are relevant for the purposes of nature and biodiversity conservation and landscape management research, where they are needed to understand long-term ecological processes, and the impact of historical and prehistoric management, which are the basis of the current biodiversity. Furthermore, qualitative reconstructions are important for climate research, as past land cover has feedback mechanisms to the climate system through impacts on albedo, carbon and nutrient cycling etc.

My methods include pollen analysis, collection and age/depth modelling of lake sediments, pollen/vegetation modeling and statistical analysis.
