Research

My PhD research focuses on disentangling the drivers of floral scent and floral morphology diversification in plants involved in coevolutionary interactions. More specifically, I investigate whether (i) pollinator specialization (specialists vs. generalists) shapes patterns of floral scent and floral morphology, (ii) hybridization between sympatric species promotes divergence in floral scent and floral morphology, and (iii) polyploidization within the genus Lithophragma leads to repeatable and predictable patterns of floral scent and floral morphology diversification across species. To address these questions, I use the Lithophragma–Greya coevolutionary system as a model.
