Research
Dr. Ayesha Fawad is a General Medicine specialist with over a decade of clinical experience in Sweden and a PhD in medical science from Lund University, where she investigated the role of proneurotensin in cardiometabolic disease. Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher at the Lund University Diabetes Centre (LUDC) and the Obesity Clinic, focusing on translational research in diabetes and obesity. She has also contributed to the Swedish BioFINDER Primary Care study, which aimed to improve early detection of Alzheimer’s disease in primary care. Her future research is centered on exploring how obesity and type 2 diabetes contribute to the development of dementia, with the long-term goal of improving early risk identification and developing more targeted, individualized prevention strategies for both metabolic and cognitive disorders.
