Personal profile

Research

My research interests are in the areas of computational continuum mechanics, nanomechanics and material modelling at nano- and macro scale, molecular dynamic simulation and peridynamics.

The aim of my research is to develop and implement material models for different classes of materials. Material properties emerge from phenomena on scales ranging from angstroms to meters. A multiscale treatment can provide a basis for an understanding of material behavior on different scales. The focus of my research work in the field of nano mechanics has been achieved through a continual and consequent shift of attention towards finer metric scales; from traditional continuum mechanics descriptions of materials, followed by mesoscale descriptions of material behavior on the scale of μm down to investigation of i.e. nanoindentation effects of mechanical behavior on the atomic level. All three metric scales are of interest to my research, with constant interaction in-between them.
