Personal profile

Research

I completed my PhD in Water Resources Engineering at the Department of Building and Environmental Technology, Faculty of Engineering (LTH), Lund University, in affiliation with the Center for Advanced Middle Eastern Studies (CMES). My doctoral research focused on the use of Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) to advance hydrological understanding by linking ground deformation signals to subsurface water storage dynamics. Through the integration of satellite observations with numerical, environmental and data driven models, I investigated groundwater and surface water interactions, quantified land subsidence resulting from groundwater depletion and developed approaches for estimating aquifer properties in regions where conventional monitoring networks are sparse or absent.

I work as a postdoctoral researcher in the Water Resources Engineering division, advancing satellite remote sensing techniques, including but not limited to InSAR, in combination with machine learning methods to support environmental monitoring and the analysis of water related and ecological processes. My present work concentrates on peatland health assessment, where subtle surface motion patterns are analysed to infer water table dynamics and carbon related processes. By combining Earth observation data with hydrological, ecological and data driven modelling, my research aims to improve the characterization of peatland behaviour, support long term ecosystem management and contribute to broader efforts toward sustainable and climate conscious environmental planning.
