Personal profile
Research
My primary research focusses on the economic history of former colonial societies, primarily within Africa, in particular on how indigenous populations responded and adapted to colonial rule. This research is carried out as part of The establishment, growth, and legacy of a settler colony: Quantitative panel studies of the political economy of Cape Colony project. I also spend time working on the reform and removal of fossil fuel subsidies within OECD+ countries where we focus on the drivers of reform.
