Currently, there is great interest in the design of proteins assemblies. They could lead to the development of innovative biomaterial for biomedical or nanotechnology applications, for exemple the encapsulation of toxic molecules or the delivery of medicine in specific cells.

In recent years, we have been able to design new protein assemblies de novo, such as protein cages. However, we are not able to use them at their full potential and are limited in the current application of these designed protein containers. If we understand in more detail the behaviour of natural protein cages, such as virus capsid, we could improve our designs.

During my Ph.D., I aim to develop an in vivo essay for monitoring protein assembly expression and stability in a complex cellular environment. This test will help us understand natural capsid assembly. This method is based on a 3-color assembly essay, with a stress reporter, an expression reporter and an assembly reporter.
