Research

My current research is on aerosol influence in large Earth System Models (ESMs) where we evaluate and aim to improve current parameterization on new particle formation (NPF) and growth of aerosols in the chemistry module of the ESM EC-Earth. We run long simulations to compare various cloud-aerosol effects and the resulting change in global radiative balance from aerosols. We compare model results with observations from various stations with SMPS/DMPS data of aerosol size number distributions to evaluate models and parameterization methods.
