Charlotta is also Professor at the Department of Automatic Control, LTH (Engineering Faculty), Lund University. Her research is divided in four major areas; Automation, Innovation, Leadership and Pedagogy. In Automation, her primary research area, the research concerns Smart industry/Industry4.0, Manufacturing Operations, Graphical Control Languages, and Standardisation.
Charlotta Johnsson is the Chair for ISO/TC184/SC5, a committee focusing on Automation and Industrial Interoperability. The committee has 13 working groups, each one focusing on the developing an international ISO standard. Examples of standards in which she has been involved are; ISO 22400, ISA88 and ISA95, IEC61512, IEC/ISO 62264.
Charlotta Johnsson is the Director of X-Lab, a learning and innovation laboratory at Lund Univerisity, engineering faculty.
Charlotta is interested in topics related to Teaching and Learning. She have been program director for the Technology Management (master) program. She has supervised more than 50 M.Sc. thesis projects and served as course responsible for multiple courses on both basic and advanced level. She has also given a number of courses, seminars and invited lectures to external parties.
Charlotta Johnsson has an interest in External Engagement and Outreach. She has been involved in several projects together with industry, she has been involved in industrial standardization and she has co-authored a number of papers.
Charlottas research is mainly focused on Sustainable goal 3 (good health and well-being), 4 (quality education), 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure) and 12 (responsible consumption and production).
Charlotta has activly contributed to the development of the following international standards: ISO 22400, ISA 88, ISA95, IEC61512, IEC/ISO 62264.
