Personal profile

Research

I am a Senior Lecturer and Reader at the Department of Arts and Cultural Science where I teach classes in archival studies, ethnology and cultural analysis. My research interests include transport history, personal names, collectors and collecting, and rituals and traditions. In my current research project, Railway Buffs. Commitment and Knowledge among Train and Railway Enthusiasts, I explore the relationship between enthusiasts and cultural heritage institutions. The project focus on when and how they cooperate and benefit from each other, and in which situations tensions and conflicts arise. It also examines cultural notions of value and importance by problematizing norms and perceptions in relation to interests and hobbies, commitment, and knowledge. Besides teaching and researching I am coordinating the Master’s programme in Archival Studies, Library and Information Studies, and Museum Studies, ALM. I have previously been the Coordinator of MACA, Master of Applied Cultural Analysis, and between June 2022 and June 2024 I was partly on leave, working as Research Coordinator at the Swedish Railway Museum in Gävle. I am also a member of the Nominating committee at the Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology and the Course Syllabus Committee at the Department of Arts and Cultural Science. For several years I worked as an archivist at the Folklife Archives in Lund.
