Personal profile

My research project focus on professionals´ involvement in research and development projects in areas of ageing and health. My project is a part of a larger inter- and transdisciplinary research program called UserAge were the overarching aim to understand user involvement in research on ageing and health from different perspectives with the goal to develop theories and methods for research and knowledge translation about and with users.

Involving knowledge users in the research process can ensure that the co-created knowledge from research are relevant for the knowledge users, applicable in practice and sustainable in the health care system. Knowledge users can be everyone who are interested in, benefits of or uses the knowledge from the research such as senior citizen, informal carers, professionals, policy makers or other stakeholders. Being involved means actively participate in one or more of the different steps in the research process, which can be at different levels, though more than being interviewed or take a test.

The fact that the number of older people in Sweden as well in the world are expected to increase during the decades to come puts increased demands on healthcare services. Also, professionals and policymakers face challenges such as having difficulties to implement research findings in healthcare systems. One way to bridge this gap is an increased focus on involvement of professions in research. Therefore, there is a need for more knowledge about professionals’ involvement in research, their experiences of collaboration with researchers, as well as its effect on implementation of research into practice in areas of ageing and health.

Professional work

I educated as an occupational therapist at Metropolitan University College, Denmark 2010, and took my master degree in medical sciences in 2016 at the medical faculty, Lund University.

I have worked as an occupational therapist in Swedish municipalities since 2011.

After completion of my master degree I got a temporary position as a project administrator in a research project at the department of Health Sciences, Lund University.

During the year 2017, I worked as a project leader in a municipality in a project focusing maintaining independence and participation in everyday activiites among older people.

My experiences gained working in municipalities with implementation of evidence into practice and with organizational structures and my master studies sparked my interest for scientific evidence.

From the 1st of September 2017 I am a PhD student employed at the Research Platform for Collaboration for Health at Kristianstad University and affiliated to the research groups for active and healhty ageing.

Since 2019 I am also affiliated to SWEAH a national graduate school on ageing and health
