Research

My research lies in the areas of degrowth and critical organisation studies. It addresses contemporary crises and explores paths for socio-ecological transformation.

I have been writing on corporate violence, problems with work/employability and the plastic crisis, on the one hand, and focusing on degrowth as a vision for transformation, its political economy, and alternative models of work and organising, on the other.

With scholars and activists from Degrowth Vienna, I co-edited Degrowth & Strategy: How to bring about social-ecological transformation (MayFly, 2022, open access). I also co-edited Towards a Political Economy of Degrowth (Rowman & Littlefield, 2019), together with Alexander Paulsson and Stefania Barca.

I am currently leading a research project Plastics in a circular society: Alternative organising beyond resource efficiency (funded by Formas, Dec 2021-Dec 2025), together with Jacob Hasselbalch, Johannes Stripple and Carolyn Deere Birkbeck. It is devoted to alternative organising initiatives targeting unsustainable plastic practices.

Since 2012 I have been a member of the editorial collective of ephemera: theory & politics in organization – an independent open access journal.

In 2017-2020 I was involved in coordination and communication of a Horizon 2020 project REINVENT, which was devoted to decarbonisation of plastics, paper, steel and meat&dairy sectors.

I co-organised the 6th International Degrowth Conference for Ecological Sustainability and Social Equity in Malmö, Sweden (21-25 August 2018), which attracted 800 participants from across the globe.

Teaching

I have acquired extensive teaching experience since my doctoral studies in the UK and then as a postdoc and lecturer in Sweden, having taught undergraduate, masters and research students. I have taught in the areas of organisation studies, sustainability studies and strategic communication.

At Environmental and Energy Systems Studies division (Technology & Society, LTH) I have been co-coordinating the courses 'Climate, Science and Politics' (with Lars J Nilsson), and 'Environmental Issues, Project Course' (with Nelly Garcia Gonzalez). I have also coordinated the 'Social Sciences and Sustainability' course at LUCSUS (Fall 2023).

Outside Lund University, I am involved in the online master's programme on degrowth organised by the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Research & Degrowth, where I run a course 'Strategies and organisation for degrowth' (part of the module 'Policies and politics for degrowth' coordinated by Claudio Cattaneo).

I regularly give guest lectures on degrowth at Lund University, in Sweden and internationally. Copenhagen University, University of Granada, University of Vienna, University of Parma, Freie Universität Berlin, and Uppsala University are some of the places where I've engaged with students on degrowth.
