Research

My main research focus is to facilitate early detection of deterioration, improve prediction of outcome, and change current treatment strategies for patients with precapillary pulmonary hypertension (PH). To this mean, we are developing new Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging CMR measures and modelling to provide clinicians with improved imaging diagnostics of precapillary pulmonary hypertension (PH). We aim to guide future clinical decisions regarding accuracy of diagnosis and to facilitate personalised treatment strategies that can be made before the cardiac function is damaged beyond reversibility. Despite technical advancements, patients are still being misdiagnosed. Time delays due to scheduling and interpretation of tests from existing modalities often delay start of treatment with severe consequences for the patient.

Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) combined with advanced post-processing and patient-specific modelling to guide treatment strategies have the potential to markedly benefit the wellbeing of the individual patient as well as provide cost-benefit for the healthcare system.
