Personal profile

I am a researcher in the field of bioethics.

I have a background in biotechnology (MEng, Warsaw University of Life Sciences) and worked in molecular biology labs at the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics (Warsaw). I then earned a Master of Bioethics (University of Leuven) and PhD in Law, Science and Technology (University of Bologna). I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Research Ethics and Bioethics at the Uppsala University. I also was a visiting scholar at the Society and Ethics Research Group at the Wellcome Sanger Institute (Cambridge, UK).

My research has mainly focused on ethical, legal and social issues in genomics and AI in healthcare. I use both empirical and theoretical approaches to analyse emerging problems. I conducted studies on, among other things, informed consent of gamete donors in a genome editing study, use of consumers’ data by consumer genomics companies, and impact of EU regulation on medical AI.  I also participated in designing the Your DNA Your Say survey  (www.YourDNAYourSay.org). Since 2021 I have been leading a project on AI in healthcare funded by the Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare.
