Research

Research

My research interests revolve around fashion and gender history, modern history, popular culture, and perceptions of Swedishness and whiteness.

One of my current research projects concerns fashion in the Swedish welfare state (1930–1990) and how fashion was used to construct desirable citizens. In my second project, I examine the commercialisation of beauty culture during the first decades of the 20th century, with a focus on paraffin injections and cosmetic surgery.

I teach on the bachelor's program in fashion studies, mainly on fashion history, gender theory, body and beauty norms, and popular culture.
