Personal profile

Research

I have a PhD in Human rights studies since May 2022 from Lund Unviersity. My dissertation focuses on women's rights activism and its use of human rights in Egypt after the revolution 2011. During eight years, I have followed women's rights activists work and effort to secure and strengthened women's rights during the country's political transfromation.

My broader research intereset is gender, feminism and human rights in the Arab and Muslim world as well as transnational feminsim and how HR-discourses have influenced international feminist politics och women's rights in the region. More specific, I am interested in activism and its precondition in today's Egypt, mainly the feminist movement and how activitsts navigate the current political order.

Since 2019, I teach at the human rights cadidate program at University Collage Stockholm and supervise Bachelor and Master thesis.
