Personal profile

Research

My research interests include photography theory and contemporary visual practices. In my dissertation, I explored how contemporary photographers depict shifting understandings of cultural identity and belonging.

I am drawn to visual theories that challenge the image as representation, instead emphasizing embodied, situated, and affective dimensions of how images—especially photographs—operate in the world.

In my post doc research at HDK-Valand, University of Gothenburg, I examined how contemporary artists reinterpret the interwar period through various artistic strategies.

My current work investigates the relationship between artistic processes and healing. The project is carried out in collaboration with the Museum of Sketches, where I am also partly based.

I teach and serve as program director for the master's programme in visual culture.
