With particular focus on the aurochs and wisent, I investigate the history of the Scandinavian ungulate fauna and how environmental changes during the Early Holocene have influenced it. My research combines traditional zooarchaeological methods, such as morphological analysis and radiocarbon dating, with isotopic analyses, proteomics, and ancient DNA techniques.

By analysing bone points and faunal remains, my colleagues and I reconstruct changes in the ecological adaptations of these species, as well as shifts in human technology, hunting practices, and subsistence strategies throughout the period. Ultimately, I examine how climate, environment, and human activity have impacted these animals and contributed to their extinction.
