Personal profile


The key areas of my research are scholarly development and doctoral education. I am also interested in issues on higher education in general from a critical perspective. I integrate educational, philosophical and psychological theories while focusing on the following subjects:

  1. Learning in doctoral education
  2. Critical thinking in scholarship
  3. Creativity in scholarship
  4. Academic identity development
  5. Discourses on higher education 

Ongoing research projects (besides my supervision of doctoral thesis projects)

  1. Encouraging social innovations for combating poverty in East Africa: Lessons from a postgraduate educational intervention. Collaboration between Lund University, African Population and Health Research Centre (APHRC) in Kenya, and Makerere University in Uganda. PI: Eva Brodin. Besides my work at Lund University, I am also a research associate with conditional tenure at the Centre for Higher and Adult Education at Stellenbosch University in South Africa.  



I have experience of teaching adults at all levels, ranging from individuals with acquired brain damage at Furuboda Folk High School to university students and teachers in higher education. Currently, I am a senior lecturer at: 

Department of Educational Sciences, Division for Higher Education Development (AHU), Lund University (teaching subjects: Doctoral students' learning, Research supervision)

In 2011-2017, I was also teaching in the subjects of theory of science and qualitative research methods at the Department of Psychology, Lund University. Furthermore, I have extensive experience of supervising theses at Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral levels in varying knowledge areas.
