Personal profile

Research

I started my PhD studies in June 2021. I am affiliated with the Making Universities Matter platform within the theme of “the roles of scientists (and academia at large) in transition to sustainable societies”.  I study academic activism as one of the ways to induce social change. I also investigate the role of institutions and context to mold and shape academic activism.

My master’s education has been in the interdisciplinary field of Sustainability Science and Environmental Studies. I carried out my thesis project on the development of a grassroots initiative in Iran; the Nature Schools. My research was at the intersection of transition studies and social movement studies.

In my doctoral project, my ambition is to create a space for reflection and dialogue on the multifaceted role of scholars in contributing to societal transformation in the backdrop of grand global challenges.
