Personal profile

Fredrik focuses his PhD studies on evaluating the use of autologous cells for cell-replacement therapy in Parkinson’s disease. He generates patient-derived dopaminergic neurons from pluripotent stem cells and from directly reprogrammed fibroblasts and predicts the clinical performance of these cells in models reminiscent of a patient brain. Fredrik is also interested in studying if deleting alpha synuclein could be a universal strategy for generating disease-resistant cells that would bring the clinical benefit of patient-specific cell therapy with reduced risk of pathogenesis in the transplant.
