Fredrik Værslev is a professor in fine art with a focus on conceptual painting.

Fredrik Vaerslev (born in 1979) is a very influential artist in the international discussion about contemporary painting. He works with conceptual painting, and through this he explores and moves limits on how painting can be perceived. In order to do that, a deep knowledge of the discourse of painting is required. Vaerslev has an unusually lively exhibition practice and, among other things, he was the named the yearly Festival Artist of Bergen in 2016. He is represented in several major collections, including the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and Moderna Museet in Stockholm.
