Research

Frida Rydqvist is a licensed clinical psychologist and doctoral student within the project “Executive functions and mental health among young adolescents”, which is led and supervised by associate professor Daiva Daukantaité and associate professor Eva Hoff.

My PhD project is about executive functions and their association to several aspects of mental health among young Swedish adolescents. I am interested in how self- and parent-reported executive functions relate to mental health profiles, from a cross-sectional as well as a longitudinal point of view.

The project consists of two main parts:

1) To collect Swedish norm data for a self-report scale aimed at measuring executive functions among children and adolescents 5-18 years of age.

2) Investigate how students’ (13-15 years old) executive functions relate to mental health profiles from a cross-sectional, as well as a longitudinal perspective.

By investigating this, we hope to gain more insight into how daily neuropsychological processes associate to several aspects of mental health. In the future, we hope that this research can contribute to valuable insights that can pave the way for new forms of school-based mental health interventions.
