Personal profile

Research

Within academia, since 2020 I have been working as a doctoral student at the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University, where I have deepened my expertise in environmental gerontology and active ageing through the RELOC-AGE programme. Holding a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy, a specialist degree (focus on habilitation and functional support, investigation and evaluation) and a PhD in Medical Science with a specialisation in gerontology, I have a solid academic foundation. What attracted me to the RELOC-AGE project was its focus on health and active ageing—as distinct from traditional geriatrics—with a broad approach targeting individuals from the age of 55. My research investigates how the home environment, social support and personal resources interact to promote health and active ageing among people over 55 who are interested in relocating. In a world where the opportunity to make informed choices is crucial, regardless of who we are or the limitations we might have, I consider this theme central both in research and in practice. I completed my doctoral defence in November 2024 and am currently employed as a Research Assistant in Ageing and Health within the RELOC-AGE project at Ribbingska.

In parallel with my research, I have undertaken teaching assignments within the Occupational Therapy Programme. Between 2021 and 2024, I planned and delivered lectures, workshops, seminars and journal clubs. By combining my clinical experience with a robust scientific foundation, I strive to foster student engagement and practical understanding, thereby contributing to the development of evidence-based initiatives in both clinical practice and academic research.

Professional work

My professional experience as a licensed occupational therapist dates back to 2006. Since then, I have worked in both municipal and regional healthcare, holding permanent positions in, among others, Karlskrona Municipality, Sävsjö Municipality and within the psychiatric outpatient services of Region Västra Götaland. Over these years, I have been involved in habilitation, functional support and psychiatric rehabilitation, which has provided me with extensive experience in meeting patients’ individual needs across diverse settings. In my clinical practice, particularly with individuals with intellectual and/or cognitive disabilities, I have focused on emphasising the importance of making informed choices—a fundamental right regardless of individual circumstances. This practical experience complements my academic profile and enhances my ability to work cross-professionally in complex healthcare and research environments.
