PhD in Medical Science (Gerontology) | MSc, Occupational Therapy

My research focuses on environmental gerontology, with particular interest in active ageing and how the home environment and personal resources shape opportunities for health and participation in later life. Within the RELOC-AGE programme at the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University, my portfolio includes both qualitative (usability, interviews) and quantitative research (survey based data).

In parallel with my research, I have undertaken teaching assignments within the Occupational Therapy Programme. From 2021 I have planned and delivered lectures, workshops, seminars, journal clubs and supervised students writing their bachelor thesis. By combining my clinical experience with a robust scientific foundation, I strive to foster student engagement and practical understanding, thereby contributing to the development of evidence-based initiatives in both clinical practice and academic research.

I also hold a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, a specialist qualification in habilitation and functional support (with emphasis on assessment and evaluation). In a context where the ability to make informed housing decisions is vital, regardless of personal circumstances or functional limitations, I view this thematic focus as central to both research and societal development.

My professional experience as a licensed occupational therapist dates back to 2006. Since then, I have worked in both municipal and regional healthcare, holding permanent positions in, among others, Karlskrona Municipality, Sävsjö Municipality and within the psychiatric outpatient services of Region Västra Götaland. Over these years, I have been involved in habilitation, functional support and psychiatric rehabilitation, which has provided me with extensive experience in meeting patients’ individual needs across diverse settings. In my clinical practice, particularly with individuals with intellectual and/or cognitive disabilities, I have focused on emphasising the importance of making informed choices—a fundamental right regardless of individual circumstances. This practical experience complements my academic profile and enhances my ability to work cross-professionally in complex healthcare and research environments.
