Personal profile

Research

The focus of my research is the evolution of protein function and structure. I'm interested in how evolutionary analyses can be combined with experimental research to reconstruct functional evolution of proteins, and to generate testable hypotheses about unknown aspects of protein function.

In my group we use and develop bioinformatics tools for analysing molecular sequence data. Read more about what we do here: https://atkinson-lab.com/

We welcome enthusiastic masters students on our computational voyages of discovery into genomes. Get in touch for a chat about possibe projects.
