Research

Giuseppe ‘Nick’ Giordano serves as the acting head of the Genetic and Molecular Epidemiology (GAME) unit at Lund University, Sweden. Holding the position of Associate Professor of Public Health Epidemiology, he actively participates as an Executive Committee and Managing Board member, as well as a work package co-lead in multiple IMI/EU-funded projects. These projects primarily center on research related to type 2 diabetes and obesity.

In addition to his non-communicable diseases research, Nick continues to collaborate with experts in Political and Social Sciences, Social Epidemiology, and Public Health. Currently, Nick is pioneering a new interdisciplinary research area, leading the first investigations into how genetic factors contribute to personality traits related to trust and their subsequent impact on cardiovascular health outcomes.

Nick is a relative latecomer to academia, having practiced dentistry in the UK and Australia for 14 years, prior to defending his PhD in 2012.
