Personal profile

Research

Giuseppe ‘Nick’ Giordano is the head of the Genetic and Molecular Epidemiology (GAME) unit at Lund University, Sweden. He is an Associate Professor of Public Health epidemiology and is currently engaged as Executive Committee and Managing Board member, and work package co-lead in several IMI projects, whose focus are on type 2 diabetes and obesity research.

He is also the PI of a planned Recall-by-Genotype trial (RECTIFY), which hopes to demonstrate how in vitro discoveries can translate into predictable real-world health outcomes.

In parallel to his non-communicable diseases research, Nick maintains links with Political and Social Sciences, and Public Health. As such, he is currently investigating the genetic underpinnings of (dis)trusting personality traits and associations with cardiovascular health outcomes.

Nick is a relative latecomer to academia, having practiced dentistry in the UK and Australia for 14 years, prior to defending his PhD in 2012.
