My research is about the preconditions for being able to be active and participate in everyday life as we age, at home as well as out in society. I am above all interested in how society can meet the needs of individuals with varying functional abilities. By considering the variation of functional abilities when designing the physical environment, services, etc., individuals are given more or less opportunities for participation.
In the Kamprad-funded research project TWIST, we focus on trust in welfare technology and what happens to our activities when the welfare technology does not work. Something that is becoming more and more relevant with an increased dependence on technology and digitalization in society. The project, for which I am project manager, is in its start-up phase. Technology is also an important aspect in the project "Nordic Digital Health & Education" (NorDigHE), which is an Interreg project, funded by the European Union. The project has its focus on knowledge development regarding patients admitted to their own home, i.e. hospital at home. This form of care has several advantages, but also places demands on the care.
I am also interested in older people's traveling . This project is carried out within Sweden's national centre for research and education on public transport - K2. More and more people need to be able to use public transport due to limitations in special transport services. In this project, we focus on travel coaching, but also on what other support older people may need when using public transport for traveling. Accessibility is one aspect, but travel is more complex than that. Accessibility and usability are also in focus for the Formas-funded project "Welcome in", which is now in its final phase. The project has its focus on physical accessibility and usability of public buildings.
Since March 2020, I am involved in the interview study " Beloning to the risk group". This project started during the Covid-19 pandemic, when restrictions were introduced for people aged 70 years and older. The participants were interviewed at five occasions over two years. Analysis of the data is ongoing.
The research is conducted within the profile area Proactive Ageing and the Centre for Ageing and Supportive Environments (CASE), Lund University.
I teach at the Occupational Therapy Program and I am also involved in the interdisciplinary Master Program in Medical Sciences.
