Personal profile

Research

In the doctoral dissertation "Milk - A cultural analysis of the dairy counter's new economy" (2005), I addressed, how milk became associated with Swedishness and how this is changing in the increasingly globalized food market. This in turn was related to the ongoing intertwining of culture and economy. During the thesis work, I got into several research areas that I have since delved into. The empirical material led me into the field of food studies, where I immersed myself in the gastronomic development in Sweden in recent decades. I have studied the restaurant sector as well as the food industry and food and meals in domestic settings. As food production affects both life in and the perception of the countryside, I also touched on questions about the transformation of the countryside and culinary tourism. I have increasingly started working with applications and not just with basic research and strived to find interdisciplinary collaborations. As a result, I have got a position as a lecturer at LTH, in the division of food and pharmaceuticals. Since 2021, I am also a visiting professor in food studies at the Swedish University of Agriculture (SLU) Alnarp. In recent years, I have participated in a number of international collaborative projects in both research and teaching to develop sustainable food systems of the future.
