Personal profile

My research focuses on how forest policy affects actors, how they interact and which effects it has on land use. I’m interested in synergies and tradeoffs between interests in Nordic forests and the effects this has in relation to how we use land and water.

As part of the interdisciplinary project "Green forest policy: a comparative evaluation of results and trade-offs across Fenno-Scandinavia (GreenPole)", I use a combination of quantitative and qualitative data through agent-based modeling, walking interviews and geographic information.

In general, I am interested in the connection between societies, power and natural resources. I am inspired by theories within social-ecological systems, political ecology, social movements and land use/land cover change. With a background in Physical geography and Ecosystem Analysis, I have previously studied water availability in Nepal, soil stability in Uganda, environmental conflict in relation to Chile's forest industry and resistance movements around mines in Sápmi and Ecuador.
