My research aims to streamline the clinical management of glaucoma patients and to reduce visual impairment caused by glaucoma. In glaucoma, the rate of progression shows a large variation. I investigate the group of patients without any visible progression despite long follow-up times to be able to identify possible protective characteristics. I also study the relationship between progression in the optic nerve and the visual field, to see if this varies with different stages of glaucoma. The results of my research will enables us to follow patients with the superior method or methods to identify early glaucoma damage, and use resources wisely in order to manage patients in the most efficient and effective way.
