Research

The research is about collegial midwifery assistance during the second stage of labour and is part of a larger research project "SOL - The second stage of labor project". The project is led by Professor Christine Rubertsson and PhD Malin Edqvist. Within the project, a multicenter RCT has been carried out at five hospitals in Sweden, "Oneplus", with the primary purpose of investigating whether the presence of two midwives during the active second stage reduces severe perineal trauma. More than 3,000 women have been included in the study. The main supervisor is Professor Christine Rubertsson and co-supervisors are Associate Professor Maria Ekelin and PhD Malin Edqvist.
